My cover story with fashion guru Carson Kressley!
September 26, 2012When I was asked to interview Carson Kressley for Philadelphia Style Magazine’s Fall cover, I was super pumped. I had always been a devoted fan of “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” (why DID that show go off the air?), but my obsession with Carson Kressley really began after running into him at the Wendy Williams Show. I was in hair and makeup, and Carson sat down next to me. We had an instant connection as we realized we were both from the Philly area. I was most surprised to find out that Carson goes back to Philly every year to participate in the Devon Horse Show – turns out he is a competitive equestrian! I had no idea and figured many people didn’t know that either.
I pushed and pushed to get him into Philadelphia Style in some way or another, and then received the call (well, email) that he was going to be on the cover and I was going to write the story. SCORE!
My fave quote from the interview — rang really true with me!
“Every experience we have in life builds upon the last and makes us who we are,” he says. “Even though I came from a small town in Pennsylvania, because I was a good rider, I got to travel the competition circuit, which exposed me to people with great taste and different styles you didn’t see around Allentown. This makes you worldly and gives you great perspective.”
