Vote for today’s guest blogger – a finalist in Allure Magazine’s Beauty Blogger Awards!

May 17, 2012

Happy Thursday, friends! I am pleased to announce that a friend of mine, Janna Mandell (above – but she’s even prettier in person!), is a finalist in Allure Magazine’s Beauty Blogger Awards for her awesome blog found at www.mybeautybinge.com so please please vote for her HERE !!!!!!!!!!! She is uber-deserving of taking home the crown (and every time you vote, you become eligible for fun prizes like vacations and stuff like that)!

She was a former finance gal turned beauty blogger, which is proof that it is never too late to pursue your dreams, ladies! She is super inspiring — and — super knowledgeable about all things beauty, including the one thing that baffles me time and time again – MAKE-UP!

“This Spring is all about wearing the bright candy colors,” Janna says, “but be cautious and ‘candy it up’ responsibly by wearing this trend in small doses. Read: do not mix ideas 1 -3 for fear of looking like Cruella de Ville.”

Her beauty must-haves of the moment:

1. Bright eyeliner is the easiest way to instantly transform your makeup look from neutral to naughty (it’s also great for nights when you just found out you’re supposed to meet your ladies at the bar in ten minutes. One swipe on your upper lash line and you’re  eyes are“going out” ready).  I personally love Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes in Turquoise 7L ($18) for a softer look and for an edgier winged eye I use .

2.  Bright lips were all over the runways this past season and now every starlet from Emma Stone to Claire Danes are rocking the red carpets with a neon lip. Rihanna owns this look. I’ve seen her lips painted every color in the day-glo rainbow, with orange (hottest color by far for Spring) being my favorite.  Make sure you choose your color wisely (test before buying!) and have a concealer pen handy to draw outside your lips to prevent the lipstick from bleeding.   I personally love Illamasqua.  Not only do their lipsticks drop a lot of pigment and last for hours, they have tons of fun colors to choose from.

3. If the top two choices seem a bit too much for you, then inject a little color the easy way – brighten up your manicure! Candy colors aren’t just for your toes anymore.  I’m personal wearing Greenwich Village by OPI right now:
